Forty-Third Post

I miss posting…I think I’ll have to start making posts that are short and sweet, rather than putting the pressure on myself to create long and [thus?] “substantive” entries.

So I haven’t had the opportunity to sleep very much of the last few days. I’ve really been enjoying this double-Halloween weekend thing, because the parties and time spent with friends has been great, but the lack of sleep/productivity otherwise has been an unfortunate consequence. I had a late start this morning because of residual sleep-lackage, but then it was remedied pretty quickly…

A little before 8:30, soon after I’d pulled myself out of bed, my phone started vibrating. It was my dad, and he’d been up for about three-and-a-half hours by that point. There’s been all sorts of drama with my aunt and grammy, so he was calling about that. Yeah…not exactly the first choice I’d have for a morning conversation, but he was in jovial (or maybe even serenely manic?) spirits, which was nice, even though I responded primarily with grunts, and asked him to call me back later.

Then, once I’d gotten my business together and left my apartment, I ran into one of my friends, Samantha, who gave me a big ol’ hug as soon as we crossed paths. I still was in grunt-mode, and she was rushing to a train, but it really is amazing what a genuine embrace will do for a person. Yeah, I know everyone knows that, but dag…reminders are pretty awesome.

And finally this morning, as I was arriving at work (a little late), I ran into one of my bosses, Rose, who is just an extremely pleasant and warm person to be around. We had a nice little chit-chat as we waited for and used the elevator, and so by the time I’d gotten to my office, I sure was feeling pretty swell.
